Launched in 2011, the Piaggio MP3 Yourban aimed to offer a lighter and more manageable tricycle than the standard MP3 and was available in 125 or 300cc versions. This "baby" MP3 300, shortened by 18 cm and lightened by around 30 kilos, was not as successful as its bigger brothers.

The new model presented in Milan is therefore called the classic Piaggio MP3 300 HPE and has the same front end as the "big" MP3s. Its LED headlights and large windscreen give it a more plush look while optimising protection. New colours, a redesigned seat and slimmed down front mudguards also contribute to a more dynamic silhouette.

The new MP3 300 HPE retains the 278cc single-cylinder engine of the previous 300 version but gains 3.6bhp and 2Nm of torque to deliver 24.6bhp and 24.5Nm. ABS and ASR traction control are standard equipment. On the practical side, the boot houses a full-face helmet and a glove box with USB socket sits above the instrument panel. The latter can be connected to a smartphone to provide more information and map orientation. The Piaggio MP3 HPE comes in a Sport version with specific colours, red suspension springs and petal front brake discs.
